If the Phone Doesn’t Ring, It’s Me

353456981.jpg I’d be interested to hear how things are back home. I hear from some folks every now and then on the phone or via email, and it’s good. I like to hear about the local haps in KC, how things are with everyone. What about the Chiefs? I didn’t get to see them play. Hopefully this week I can catch them. I have to go to a place that has the NFL package though, and that takes some time to travel. How about the weather, has the heatwave stopped? It was over 90 the past couple of days again. If anyone has some interesting news, I’d like to hear.

  1. Hey Nick, I ran in the big Omaha 10k last weekend (6th year in a row). Wiffle ball ankle came back (like always), but I avoided my PW. I finished in around an hour. I used to think moving your feet faster was the simple answer. I am not sure that works anymore. Emily passes up her seeded position to run this race with me, but I refuse to talk to her and turn into a pirate around mile 4. Watch US Womens Soccer!

  2. CR, nice work getting out there and competing. It’s always good to get out and compete, and give your best, which it sounds like you did. Be sure to ice the ankle down. When’s your next race?

  3. Funny you ask! My next race is a little 10k mid September 2009. For all you real runners, PW is opposite of PR. You will learn all about the dreaded PW’s in years to come. Wait, is Personal Worst a real runner term?

  4. The SJA Vball Squad just moved to 18-0 this evening and are ranked #1 in 4A. They are pretty impressive. The Soccer squad is hovering around .500.
Coach H is bringing some good coaching to the XC team for the first time in SJA history. (Busting Chops Dupree) Tennis is rolling and the golf team is working hard. Now the football program is the highlight of Athletics. We are heading to Immac for a saturday afternoon game. Could be sweet - Coach M. is working them hard and it will just be a matter of time. By the way , i am working on Leon for the homecoming dance. Kelly K could be on the horizon. Lauren D is battling the cancer thing hard and is a daily inspiration to the entire school. You are missed but i will never tell you that….Dupree.

  5. Leon is hopeless. ‘I don’t to go!’ he says. Whatever.

  6. Way to go SJA! Keep up the good work. Lauren inspires me out here on the west coast!

  7. If anyone happens to be near Baldwin City, KS the 3rd weekend in October, don’t forget to go to the Maple Leaf festival. Enjoy a turkey leg. I once purchashed one from my apt. window with a fishing pole and plastic bag from the 3rd story.
