If the Phone Doesn’t Ring, It’s Me

1084797801.jpg Now since I’ve been in Portland, I don’t watch a lot of TV these days, but here are my top 5 favorite shows on right now. I’ve seen one or two episodes of each in the last 2 months, so I need to clear some space on my plate to make room for more tube time.

5. Throwdown with Bobby Flay(Food Network)

4. Dinner Impossible with Chef Robert Irvine(Food Network)

3. George Lopez(ABC/Nickelodeon)

2. Seinfeld(Syndicated)

1. The Office(NBC)

  1. Hey Nick,

Finally got a chance to read through your entries over the past month or so. I must say, I’ve learned quite a lot about you through these dispatches: your bus route to work, your fear of manikins. Heck, you even threw in some ghetto slang. (”The time, it be flying.”) Damn dog. That’s some edgy stuff you be writing!

Seriously, though, how’s Portland treating you? Are you finding you can get around easily without a car? Where are you staying? Are you close to downtown, in downtown, across the River from town? Have you had a chance to get to Vancouver (WA) yet? Those are just a few of my many questions, but I’ll draw the limit at 4 for now.

On my end, things aren’t too bad. Just got back from a brief trip to New Orleans with Colleen and Julia. And we have a couple of other trips coming up — one to KC for Thanksgiving, another to Seattle in January. Any chance you’ll be in KC from Nov. 23 - 27? If so, we can catch up then.

I’d also like to extend an open invitation to you to come down and visit us in San Jose. We can accomodate visitors, but I’ve got to warn you, we don’t have cable. All we’ve got is 8 seasons of Seinfeld on DVD. That would probably sate your voracious TV appetite for at least a night or two. There’s also mountain biking in the Santa Cruz Mts. (15 minutes away), the coast (an hour away), the whole San Francisco scene (an hour or more away, depending on traffic). You name it. I can set things in motion; you just have to show up.

Hope all’s treating you well in Portland.

    Keep in touch, buddy.

  7. Hey coach Whats going on down in Portland? Man the Juniors really miss you teaching Spanish class. It’s just not the same with out the daily scaring.

  8.
Coach.
How’s the wife?
Any other personal information you need to fill me in on? How are you feeling? Do you like your new school? Don’t answer that.

I just thought you should know that we’re in spanish, I shouldn’t be on this right now, and Derek and Sam and Catherine and my group for board races is named Group R. It started a trend: now all of our groups are named after spanish teachers. But I think we know who’s winning.

I love you.

  9. I am on Kim’s computer. K - State is going to dominate KU next week, no questions asked. We are dominating in board races?

    Hows the girl?

  10. Panda, I like the sounds of Seinfeld on DVD. Thanks for cussing on the site also, I had to edit that. I live in downtown, soutwest quadrant, a few miles from the willamette, which I’ve been to on the east side of town. I can get to the heart of downtown in 10-15 min. walking, or a 5 min. max ride. Haven’t made it to Vancouver, what’s out there? I do have a car now, the bus rides just took too long, but the max/bus system is great here.
