On a whim late this afternoon, I hopped in the car and headed east of Portland about 35 miles or so to a great destination. You can google multnomah falls and check out where I was today. I made a few stops along 84 highway along the columbia river gorge scenic areas. It was a nice break from the city, and I saw nature at its finest. The cool part is that there is a hiking trail that takes you to the top of the fall, a hike that I will save for a later date, hopefully with some family or friends. It is the second tallest waterfall in the country. My next stop will be Mt. Hood. I can’t tell you how great the falls were. The sound of the water is so intense(if you can just block out the other tourists and the highway noise it feels like just you and the waterfall). This pic really does the whole trip justice. The bridge was as far up as I went, although had I eaten the proper pre-trip meal I would have tried the mile hike up to the top, but as I said, that just gives me another reason to head back. The drive back was so great. It seemed that the sky knew exactly what I was thinking. It was overcast, but still warm, but I kept thinking, ‘where has the sun been?’ And from 84 after I stopped to take some pictures, the sky split, and the sun came out, if only for a while, I cranked up the radio and let it fly(still going the speed limit mind you). Even though the clouds rolled back over the sun as I approached the city limits of Portland, my day had gotten a whole lot brighter.

Nick and JP, NickTrip.com owes Nick a whopping 50 cents since adding. Hey it’s a coke. I am testing them out to see if they help cover Nick’s time. I think they are usually good links considering someone is paying to be there and they change depending on the post topic. Nick and JP - Let me know if you are thumbs up or thumbs down on them…

What great weather this weekend. The sun was out, which won’t be the case most of the week. I really enjoyed the weekend, and I even grilled out for some friends on Sun. afternoon. The chiefs game was on, and they won, so that was cool. I learned my lesson on the grill- more indirect heat, less direct heat for a tasty steak. It worked out after a practice run, and we had some great steaks from KCK that a friend of mine sent for my b-day in Aug. As for the bison burgers, that was a different story. Next time, Nick, next time.
