If the Phone Doesn’t Ring, It’s Me

26323999.jpg406930927.jpg  I know that I am in the worst shape of my life, and the first step is to admit that. From the time that I moved here, I hadn’t really run since early May, which was 3 months. Then, since the 4 months that I have been in Portland, Friday hoops after school is my once source of exercise. But this week, I worked out 3 times(baby steps for sure), which is good, but also bad because now my upper back is so stiff that I can hardly turn my neck. Yet, I will be prepared, barring some unforseen incident, for the annual flag football challenge. Although my team won last year, there might be some injuries that could affect the outcome. But perseverence is the key. Last year I wore golf shoes, since tennis shoes are like roller skates. Sure hope that I still have those, I really don’t want to pay for cleats.

I will be home on the 22 of December. My flight leaves late on the 21st, with a stop in Ohio. I stay until Jan 5th, so that gives me two weeks. I hope to see a lot of folks, I’ll do my best to make myself available. I do know that I fully intend on watching some tv, since I won’t have it still when I get back to Portland. For sure, I know that I will be watching KU in the Orange Bowl. Don’t forget JP/Redmond, I have a KU shirt for you to wear for one full day, and I want my lunch also. I’m excited to get back home, it’s seems like a long time ago I was saying that  it was still over a month until I came home. It’s right around the corner. But until then, I’ll make sure that I am taking care of business here in Portland. Wish me the best that my back will stay healthy enough to play in the flag football game, which is a fun gathering w/ my friends and family, and even more special since I haven’t seen most of these folks since I left in Aug.

  1. The first step to recovery is to admit you have a problem. Put those running shoes back on!
