There isn’t too much news overflowing from the print shop. The team recently lost in the championship game of the sunday night bowling league. We did escape with some hardware, but not the 3 ft. tall trophy I was hoping for. I told myself if I bowled at least 140 that I would be helping the team, and that we would have a chance to win. Well, we lost by 30 pins, and I only managed a 111. You can do the math. If I hit my average, we win the game. I would say that I am competitive. Certainly not at the level that I once was, and that is for the good of all involved. But you always want to do your best, whether its in school, or in practice, or at work, PLAYING SCRABBLE, or even bowling. I didn’t do my best, but I did try my best, so I can live with that. Both teams bowled lower than the season averages, maybe the pressure of bowling for a trophy while eating greasy tater tots and drinking stale pop was more than any of us could handle. I was upset for about 2 minutes, but during that time, Brett Favre threw an interception, and minutes later the Giants kicked the game winning field goal. Now that’s pressure and frustration.
The sun will be out in Portland for another few days, while the temperature reaches a whopping 30-some degrees. January has been manageable though, there have been some days in the mid-40’s and 50’s, which in the middle of winter seems pretty warm. The days are getting longer, and soon the weather will be warmer. Spring is just around the corner. I think the Oregon State Beavers are playing versus the University of Georgia in late Feb. for some baseball games in Portland just down the road from me. That ping of the aluminum sure does hurt in the cold weather. The Blazers are still rolling. Raef Lafretz did get to play a few minutes last week. And how bout them Hawks? Still playing some great ball in good old Lawrence, Kansas. It still feels fun to say Orange Bowl Champs, too.
