Here is an update of what I did the last half of the vacation time spent in Cali. After recharging the batteries from Sunday’s challenge, we hopped back on the bikes. This time, it worked out quite nicely. We biked about 2 miles or so to a breakfast place called Bill’s. If you like large portions, homestyle cooking, this is your place. I had a great omelette with bacon and avacado. After biking back home, there was time enough for some Seinfeld on DVD and I also went walking around the general area, checking out different shops. The weather was perfect, and easily killed about 3 hours doing that.
The greatest guacamole of all time can be found at a restuarant called Consuelo. They make it right in front of you, and add some tortillas to go with it. I would say that was a full meal in itself. I did manage to see some plates they offer, large portions, decent price, perhaps a bit on the upscale though. But the decor was nice, and they offer outdoor seating, as most places in the land of milk and honey do.
To close out the trip on Tuesday, we headed out to the coast, in the western hills, near the redwood forests and then trekked out to Santa Cruz. The open space preserve provided a nice hike, about 2 miles, with clear skies and a great view from above. We did head to the beach, and played some video games, old school defender and pinball. I hope to spend more time in Santa Cruz next time, and go on the roller coasters.
